Let’s talk about stuffing recipes because I have more than a few… My family always requests Spinach Stuffing Balls and my Classic Homemade Stuffing at every holiday turkey dinner. I am happy to oblige because I love both recipes. And if I make extra stuffing, there’s 100% chance I’ll be making these Stuffing Waffles!

Savory Leftover Stuffing Waffles

Making delicious recipes out of leftovers is my jam! Anyone can reheat a plate of holiday turkey dinner in the microwave but creating entirely new recipes from the leftovers is another skill set. If you have leftover turkey dinner after the holidays, you are sitting on a goldmine.

You’ve been cooking for days and now it’s time to reap the benefits. I always start with homemade Turkey Stock. Once it’s simmering away on the stove, I tackle the leftover turkey. If there’s football, I make baked Turkey Dinner Sliders and if I’m feeling a little spicy, I’ll make Turkey Enchiladas.

Got leftover Cranberry Sauce? This tart and tangy jam is so easy to repurpose into a dessert or cocktail. I always mix it into some mayonnaise for the ultimate turkey sandwich.

Finally, there’s the home made stuffing. It’s extra carbs on a sandwich and gets mushy baking in a Turkey Pot Pie… the solution is to make Stuffing Waffles! It may seem strange but according to the internet, you can cook almost anything in a waffle iron.

So, here is my post holiday gift to you. Get out those waffle irons and get ready to indulge in the ultimate savory waffle. It’s crispy and golden on the inside with a lovely fluffy interior and it makes your kitchen smell like Thanksgiving dinner all over again!

These savory waffles are delicious topped with turkey gravy and cranberry sauce but if you want to add some turkey meat, go right ahead! Where are my sweet and savory peeps at? I know you’re thinking about drizzling syrup or honey (or hot honey!) on these waffles. Just do it. YOLO.

Ingredients for Leftover Savory Stuffing Waffles

Besides leftover stuffing, there are only three other ingredients in the stuffing mixture. There’s a little extra turkey gravy for moisture, some turkey broth, and a few chopped green onions. Top the Stuffing waffles with leftover cranberry sauce and even more gravy.

  • Leftover Turkey Stuffing
  • Turkey Gravy (or whipping cream)
  • Turkey Broth (or chicken stock)
  • Green Onions (feel free to substitute fresh parsley or garden chives)
  • Cranberry Sauce

These stuffing waffles are delicious on their own but here are a few suggestions to add some extra flavour and texture to your stuffing waffles.

  • Dried cranberries add a touch of sweetness and texture to your leftover stuffing waffles.
  • Pecans add fall flavour and crunch.
  • Use Sausage Stuffing to bring an extra meaty and savoury touch.
  • A drizzle of maple syrup adds sweetness and warmth throughout your stuffing waffles. Add it to the batter or drizzle over the waffles.

Kitchen Tools for this Recipe

This waffle recipe was tested with a six-inch Belgian waffle iron. If you have an 8-inch waffle maker, it will also work. Just be mindful that you won’t be able to make as many waffles. If you don’t have a waffle maker, you could also make stuffing pancakes.

Or use a sandwich press or a heavy pan on top of the pancake and apply pressure to get it to cook well. Make sure to flip pancakes halfway through cooking (about 2 minutes in).

You will also need a large mixing bowl, mixing spoon or spatula, and measuring cups/spoons.

How to Make Leftover Stuffing Waffles

To begin, preheat the waffle iron and spray it with cooking spray. This helps the waffles release and makes cleanup easier.

Next, make the waffle batter in a large mixing bowl. Add the stuffing, broth, eggs, and gravy them mix well. The texture will be stiff and thick, unlike classic waffle batter.

Scoop ¾ cup waffle batter onto the waffle iron and spread it out. It will not rise so even it out and go right to the edges.

Close the waffle iron and press it closed. Cook batter for about 5 minutes or until the edges are crispy and golden brown. All waffle irons are different so check it in 2 minutes. Repeat with remaining stuffing mixture until it is all gone. Keep waffles warm in 200 F oven until ready to serve.

Garnish stuffing waffles with green onions and top with leftover turkey and cranberry sauce or your favourite syrup. Serve immediately.

To store leftover stuffing waffles, layer them into a resealable bag with pieces of parchment paper in between to prevent sticking. Place them in the refrigerator and eat within 1-2 days.

Freeze stuffing waffles by placing them in a single layer on a baking tray in the freezer for 1 hour to flash freeze them. Move frozen waffles into a resealable bag and store in the freezer for 2 months.

In the instructions it says to “mix the stuffing, broth, eggs, and gravy” but gravy is not in the ingredients list and there’s no quantity.

Yes! You are correct. Somehow the 2 Tablespoons of leftover turkey gravy was omitted as I wrote the recipe. Thank you for letting me know Jennifer.
